Determined to remove Nigeria from the long list of importing and consuming economies, Sen. Adeleke Mamora, the Honourable Minister of the Federal Ministry of Science Technology and Innovation has not taken a back seat to turning around the fortunes of Nigeria’s economic narrative using science and technology for sustainable development in nation building with the Federal Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation.
The Federal Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation is a Nigerian ministry whose mission is to facilitate the development and deployment of science and technology apparatus to enhance the pace of socio-economic development of the country through appropriate technological inputs into productive activities in the nation.
It is headed by a Minister appointed by the President, assisted by a Permanent Secretary, who is a career civil servant. President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR on 16 July 2022 appointed Adeleke Mamora as the Minister of Science and Technology. Dr.(Mrs) Amina Muhammed Bello Shamaki is the current permanent secretary in the ministry.
The Ministry was renamed to Federal Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation on 6 August 2021.
In bringing into fruition the enhanced mandate of the Mininistry in an interview on the Abuja Review with VC Collins on Kukuruku 105.9FM Abuja, Mr. Michael Anpe, Director Technology Acquisition and Adaptation, the Federal Ministry of Science Technology and Innovation stated that Sen. Adeleke Mamora has left no stone unturned in order to lift up Nigeria’s economy through science,technology and innovation for development through his Ministry.
Michael Anpe stated that the Federal Ministry of Science Technology and Innovation is poised to bring about research and development to produce goods and services to make life easy for Nigerians.
He stated that the Federal Ministry of Science Technology and Innovation through her implementing organs and agencies has improved the source of livelihoods of Nigerians with various researches for development.
Anpe mentioned that the Ministry has assisted inventors and innovators in Nigeria to get patents over formulae derived for industrialization and import substitution in Nigeria.
‘’The Ministry through our implementing organs and agencies have formulated through research high nutrients biscuits to help mal-nourished children where the patent has been bought over by NASCO Foods. We have access to internet in Nigeria as a result of the satellite in the orbit through one of our implementing organs with NIGCOMSAT. High yield seeds to guarantee bumper harvest for farmers with the formulae researched and derived by our implementing organs has in no small way had a multiplier effect in chain reaction on the economy of Nigeria in terms of profitable employment. The cure for sickle cell anemia is being researched for to be derived by one of the Ministry’s implementing organs with Pfizer. Locally grown sughon through research midwifed by the Ministry has become useful to breweries in Nigeria’’ Anpe added.
Earlier, the Director Technology Acquisition and Adaptation, the Federal Ministry of ScienceTechnology and Innovation, Anpe Michael stressed that the invaluable contribution by Sen. Mamora, the Honourable Minister the Federal Ministry of ScienceTechnology and Innovation as a nation builder to the sustainable development of Nigeria using science and technology in improving the nutritional, health care concerns with communication and agricultural needs of the nation, without fail, will bring Nigeria to the page where industrialized nations of the world are.
