Spyro Rejects Collaboration with Portable, Citing Musical Differences
During an interview on Cool FM, Spyro made it clear that a collaboration with Portable is unlikely due to their contrasting Musical styles.
According to Spyro, their paths do not align, preventing them from creating Music together that would Suit both of their styles.
While acknowledging Portable’s Talent, Spyro emphasized that the type of Music he writes would not be a good fit for Portable’s Artistic direction.
Spyro stated, “It’s Intentional when people do the kind of Music that Portable does. It’s pretty much Intentional.
Someone walked up to me and said, ‘You know, if you wanna make it you have to be at the end. If you want to do good Music, do it, let it be good.
If you want to do whack Music, let it be whack.’ I think my Writing Style is different from his kind of Music.
And I think Portable can even do it. Trust me. I have listened to his Songs that I am like Portable did this?”
These remarks from Spyro have not gone unnoticed by Portable, who took offense to Spyro’s comments and expressed his dissatisfaction with the Situation.
Known for his energetic Performances and street style, Portable responded candidly in pidgin English, firing back at Spyro for dismissing him, particularly considering Spyro’s own status as a Non-A-lister in the
Music Industry.
Portable exclaimed, “Are you whining me Apara or Spyro or what do they call you? You never make am, you dey form ajebo. How many shows you don go to? Don’t let them push you against helper.
Come, that’s why I don’t do too many Interviews because I know they will ask too many questions.
Make you no go dey loose-guard so as not to mis yarn. When they are calling the Industry, you’ll now be forming a voice.
You are now packaging. See this one o. You this guinea fowl or what are you called? Come and let’s give you chorus make you blow more. Shey you dey whine ni? Go and ask your oga.”
The exchange between Spyro and Portable highlights their differing perspectives on collaboration and underscores their contrasting positions within the Music Industry.
