The Nigerian Gas Association (NGA), the leading Organization representing stakeholders in the Gas Sector of the Country’s Oil and Gas Industry, has officially Inaugurated its Executive Council for the 2022-2024 term. The Ceremony took place during the NGA Dinner & Awards Night held on April 19, 2023, in Abuja, Nigeria, with Mr. Akachukwu Nwokedi, General Counsel/Company Secretary of Nigeria LNG Limited, assuming the role of President.
The newly Inaugurated Executive Council includes prominent industry professionals such as Mrs. Yetunde Taiwo, General Manager of Integrated Gas Development at First Exploration and Petroleum Development Company Limited, serving as the First Vice President, and Mr. Olufisayo Duduyemi, Chief Strategy Officer at Axxela Limited, as the Second Vice President.
Dr. Excel Ukpohor, Train 7 Project Non-Technical Interface Lead at Nigeria LNG Limited, takes on the position of Secretary General, supported by Mr. Oladeji Olaoti, Manager of New Business at Falcon Corporation Limited, as the Deputy Secretary General.
Engr. Chukwuemeka Iheme, Lifting Coordinator of Oil Mining Lease (OML) 42 at Amaranta Oil & Gas Development Company, assumes the role of Financial Secretary, while Mr.
Ikenna Ikonta, Head of Integrity and Optimization for Common Facilities at Nigeria LNG Limited serves as the Publicity Secretary, and Ms. Clare Ohiro, an Associate at Templars, acts as the Legal Adviser.
Additionally, Mr. Ed Ubong, Past President/Managing Director of Shell Nigeria Gas Limited, and Engr. Chichi Emenike, Past Secretary General and Head of Gas Ventures at Neconde Energy Limited, join the Executive Council as Ex-Officio Member.
The Inauguration Ceremony witnessed the presence of Esteemed CEOs from International Oil Companies (IOCs) Operating in Nigeria, as well as distinguished Government Officials.
In his acceptance speech as the new President of the NGA, Mr. Aka Nwokedi reflected on his longstanding Involvement with the Association since its inception in 1999.
Having served various roles over the past two decades, he expressed his enthusiasm for being a member of the NGA during this pivotal time marked by global socio-political issues, Gas supply challenges, the energy crisis, and the Global push for a net zero future, both in Nigeria and Worldwide.
