In a Tragic incident on Friday, a Cambodian man lost his life after being attacked by approximately 40 Crocodiles on his Family’s reptile Farm.
The victim, Luan Nam, aged 72, was attempting to relocate a Crocodile from a cage where it had laid eggs.
However, during the process, the Crocodile grabbed the stick he was using and pulled him into the enclosure.
The other Crocodiles in the enclosure swiftly joined in, viciously attacking Luan Nam and tearing his body apart.
The concrete enclosure at the Farm, located in Siem Reap, was left drenched in blood as a result of the brutal attack.
Mey Savry, the Police Chief of Siem Reap commune, explained the sequence of events, stating, “While he was chasing a crocodile out of an egg-laying cage, the Crocodile attacked the stick, causing him to fall into the enclosure.
Then other Crocodiles pounced, attacking him until he was dead.”
The remains of Luan Nam’s body were covered in bite marks, and one of his arms was bitten off and consumed by the Crocodiles.
Luan Nam held the position of President of the local Crocodile Farmers’ Association.
However, despite his Involvement in the reptile farming Industry, his family had been urging him to cease raising Crocodiles for years.
Following this tragic incident, his Family may consider selling their Crocodile stock.
Unfortunately, this is not the first time such an Incident has occurred in the Village.
In 2019, a two-year-old girl was killed and eaten by Crocodiles when she accidentally wandered into her family’s reptile Farm.
The presence of multiple Crocodile Farms in the Siem Reap area is not uncommon, as these farms engage in breeding the reptiles for their eggs, skins, meat, and the trade of young Crocodiles.
The Incident serves as a somber reminder of the risks associated with working closely with dangerous animals and the importance of taking necessary precautions to ensure Safety.
