According to a Statement from the International Centre for Investigative Reporting (THEICIR) on Wednesday, a significant number of Youths in Zamfara took to the Streets on Tuesday to Protest against the recurring Bandit attacks, killings, abductions, and other Security concerns in the State.

The Protest, which occurred in the Sakajiki Community, involved the Blockage of the Gusau-Kaura Namoda highway.

THEICIR reported that the Bandits had not only Abducted women from the Village but also perpetrated several killings and set numerous houses ablaze.

The statement further noted that the Bandits allegedly used a snatched Police patrol vehicle (Hilux) to loot Foodstuffs from the Community, leaving many houses, schools, Mosques, and shops deserted.

Residents recounted that the Bandits had Initially attacked the Village on Monday night, leading to the Death of a Mobile Police Officer.

They also highlighted the Bandits’ subsequent return two days later, during which they committed more atrocities.

In response, the Youth of the Community staged a dawn Protest on Tuesday, blocking the highway with Timber logs and stones.

Their actions led to several hours of halted traffic, despite the presence of Law Enforcement and Military personnel who attempted to persuade them to clear the road, promising more robust Security measures to restore Peace to the State.
