In a major breakthrough, the Minister of Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has led a team of security operatives to uncover an illegal oil refining warehouse in Mabushi, Abuja.
The Director of the Department of Development Control, Federal Capital Territory Administration, Mukhtar Galadima, made the shocking discovery after a clamp-down exercise on Thursday.
According to Galadima, about three to four plots of land designated for commercial purposes have been converted into an area where oil and diesel are being adulterated and circulated to other parts of the city.

He stated that the administration will continue to take tough action against illegal activities in the nation’s capital, including revoking land titles.
“During the continuation of our city sanitation exercise in Mabushi opposite the Mobil filling station on Ahmadu Way, we discovered an illegal refining site where oil and diesel are being adulterated; we have done the needful by moving the items to the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps,” Galadima explained.
“From what we have seen so far, about three or four plots of land designated for commercial purposes have been converted to unapproved activities, and we believe the owners are fully aware there will be consequences.
“We are going to look at the provision of the law and make necessary recommendations to the FCT Administration,” he added.
The Federal Capital Territory Administration’s swift action against this illegal oil refining operation sends a strong message to those who engage in such activities. The government’s determination to protect the environment and enforce regulations is commendable. The illegal oil refining warehouse discovery raises concerns about safety and environmental hazards posed by such operations. The adulteration of oil and diesel products can have detrimental effects on the environment and public health. The authorities’ actions can help to mitigate these risks and protect the well-being of Abuja residents.
