The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has Supplied Solar Power equipment to 30 Schools across 11 Local Government areas in Kano State.
This donation Includes 120 solar panels, 60 batteries, 30 solar Inverters, and 30 charge regulators, benefiting 15 Primary Schools and 15 Integrated Islamiyya Schools.
Balarabe Kiru, the Director of Public Enlightenment at the Kano State Ministry of Education, announced this Development.
UNICEF’s Chief Field Officer in Kano, Raham Rahul, emphasized that this Contribution is part of UNICEF’s commitment to enhance Educational access through the Nigeria Learning Passport program, aimed at providing a dedicated Online Learning Platform for Children.
The Nigeria Learning Passport program offers a Digital learning platform with Curriculum-designed Content for early childhood, primary, and secondary education, as well as Adolescent Skills and Vocational Education.
Rahul emphasized the Importance of Increasing Subscriber and User numbers in the State and reaching a target of 75,000 by December.
The Kano State Commissioner of Education, Umar Doguwa, expressed gratitude to UNICEF for this Valuable Donation and assured that the Ministry would establish a robust monitoring Team to oversee the Proper Utilization of these Resources in the benefiting Schools.
