The President of COMTUA, Yinka Aroyewun, conveyed the Group’s readiness to Collaborate with the Managing Director of NPA through a letter. This Collaboration aims to Conduct a joint Inspection of the approved Parks and Garages currently utilized for the call-up regime. Aroyewun stressed the Vital Importance of the call-up Regime’s smooth Operation in ensuring optimal port activities, reducing Congestion, and maintaining order within the port precincts.
The excerpt from the letter reads: “On behalf of our Members, we are formally requesting a Joint Inspection of the currently designated Parks and Garages sanctioned for the Call-Up Regime.
The objective of this proposed Inspection is to validate our Observations of the Garages and Parks’ non-adherence to the stipulated Regulations.”While closely monitoring the Garages and Parks endorsed by NPA for the Call-Up system, our Union has noted multiple Instances where the prescribed guidelines and regulations have not been followed.
To comprehensively address this concern and restore the Credibility of the Call-Up regime, we strongly believe that a Collaborative Inspection Involving both our Union and NPA Representatives would be advantageous.”We kindly seek NPA’s Collaboration in arranging this Joint Inspection promptly.
We suggest that the Inspection take place within the upcoming Week, allowing ample time for Coordinating schedules and ensuring the presence of Pertinent Stakeholders. “Please rest assured that our Intentions are Solely centered on enhancing the Efficiency and efficacy of the Call-Up regime. The Joint Inspection will provide an Opportunity for Constructive Dialogue, effective Partnership, and the Identification of pragmatic remedies to rectify the Non-Compliance challenges encountered by the Garages and Parks.”
