President Muhammadu Buhari has strongly condemned the killing of Oyibo Chukwu, the senatorial candidate of the Labour Party (LP) for Enugu East, who was shot dead along with his aide earlier this week. The President, in a statement issued by his aide Femi Adesina, described the perpetrators of the crime as having no respect for life, and directed security agencies to bring them to justice. He also expressed his commitment to free and fair elections, urging all eligible Nigerians to exercise their civic rights without fear of intimidation. Buhari offered his condolences to the families of the victims, the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), and the Labour Party, and prayed for the repose of the souls of the deceased and comfort for those who mourn.
