
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called upon the Officers and Personnel of the Nigerian Police to shun Corruption and abusive practices, stressing the need to foster Trust and Confidence among Nigerians.
The President made this Charge yesterday at the Conference and Retreat for Commissioners of Police and Senior Officials in Owerri, Imo State.
In his address, which was conveyed by the Minister of Police Affairs, Senator Ibrahim Gaidam, President Tinubu emphasized the Importance of upholding Professional Ethics and Integrity.
He Instructed senior Officers to set the highest Standards of Conduct and Serve as exemplary Models for others to follow.
“Upholding the Principles of fairness, transparency, and accountability is crucial to gaining the Trust and confidence of the Nigerian people.
Let us work collectively to eliminate Corruption and Misconduct within our Ranks and build a Police Force that is not only respected but also admired,” the President stated.
He further underscored the significance of the retreat, highlighting its role in reflecting on achievements, addressing challenges, and planning for the Future.
He acknowledged the pivotal role Law Enforcement plays in Society, emphasizing the need to Combat various challenges such as organized crime, terrorism, cyber threats, and communal Conflicts.
The President urged participants to utilize the platform for meaningful discussions, the exchange of Ideas, and mutual learning experiences.
He encouraged the adoption of Innovative Technologies to enhance Policing methods, emphasizing their potential for Crime Prevention, Intelligence gathering, and the Investigation of Complex Cases.
The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, echoed similar sentiments, emphasizing the Force’s commitment to Improving Officers’ capabilities and standardizing Service delivery.
Governor Uzodinma stressed the Importance of equipping the Police with High-tech Skills for combating Modern-day Security threats effectively.
