TINUBU SHOULD NOT GO TO WAR WITH NIGER, SPOT ON WITH POLICIES, AKUME’S APPOINTMENT AS SGF BEST – COMRD RICHARD TERSOO MNENGA, FORMER GUBER ASPIRANT, APC, BENUE By Collins Vershima
Comrade Richard Tersoo Mnenga, a former Gubernatorial aspirant of All Progressives Congress ( APC) in Benue State has commended the Tinubu Presidency as being spot on with most of the policy-decisions he is implementing so far. He has cautioned the leadership of the Economic Community of West African States ( ECOWAS) to explore every avenue for a peaceful resolution of the situation in Niger in the face of the military intervention by the military junta in Niger Republic who has cut off ties with Nigeria, France, and other countries on Friday 4th August,2023 after the peace talks delegates sent by the Economic Community of West Africa States failed.
Whilst speaking with VC Collins Anyakpa, Host of the ‘Abuja Review’ a political and current affairs program on Kukuruku Radio, 105.9 FM Abuja, Comrade Richard Mnenga disclosed that President Bola Tinubu has been bold and transformative with the policies he is implementing so far.
The former CNPC Secretary, reiterated that the Tinubu Presidency had hit the ground running with the fuel subsidy removal. He enjoined Nigerians to keep faith with the Tinubu Presidency, stressing that the President had delivered excellent results as a leader and a groomer of leaders, as such he was not going to fail Nigerians .
Mnega said: ‘’President Tinubu delivered excellently as the Governor of Lagos State from 1999-2007, where he groomed a lot of leaders who delivered in turn excellently. Nigerians should be patient with Tinubu ,forhas what it takes to get Nigeria out of the woods’’
‘’Fuel subsidy was considered by many as a scam, that regime was believed to have given luxuries to the classes and denied the masses necessities’’ Comrade Richard Mnenga, stated that President Tinubu’s decision and timing was best to get Nigeria out of the woods and injustice that came with the subsidy regime.
He maintained that Nigerians should be more patient with President Tinib ,as Mr. President’s decision was in the best interest of the country. ‘’ This is the best time to remove subsidy. It was considered a big scam. Tinubu’s decision is best; that capital projects will receive priority with the funds that were previously channeled into the fuel subsisdy regime.
Again, on the Students Loan Bill which was signed into law by President Tinubu, Mnenga said it showed the President’s sensitivity in looking out for palliatives for the indigent ones to cushion the hardship they face in acquiring higher education. He commended the Students Loan Bill which was signed into law by President Tinubu, stressing that the Students Loan Act will enable indigent students to have access to education as it is obtainable in other climes.
Interestingly, Richard Mnenga stated that the Tinubu Presidency came with a lot of efficacy with decision making in the governance of Nigeria as the the choice of his appointment of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation,SGF, Sen(Dr).George Akume was best for nation building, considering that Sen. Akume was a first class graduate of the famous West African University of Ibadan; accomplished, as a civil servant who rose to the peak of civil service as a permanent secretary, where he headed Local Government administration.
Mnenga maintained that, Sen. Akume was a Director of Protocol at the Benue State Government House before he became the Executive Gorvernor of Benue State between 1999-2007, after which he became a Senator of the Republic and became the Senate Minority leader in 2011, and was appointed Minister of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs in 2019. Mnenga, reiterated that Akume is a perfect choice for Tinubu’s appointment of a Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
‘’ There would not have been a better preparation for a Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, as Sen(Dr).George Akume was a round peg in round hole. He also said, Sen. Akume’s appointment as SGF is an indication of President Tinubu’s midas touch at decision making with governance.
‘’ This singular decision of Sen. Akume’s appointment has balanced the power game in Nigeria amidst the perceived marginalization of the minorities and Christians in the Tinubu Presidency. Comrade Richard Tersoo Mnenga, former Gubernatorial aspirant of All Progressives Congress ( APC) in Benue State ,did not fail to mention that the choice of Fr, Hyacinth Alia was the best gift APC could hand to Benue.
He emphasized that Alia will get Benue out of the woods as the Executive Governor of Benue State In conclision,Comrade Richard Mnenga maintained that ‘’Nigeria will soon be out of the woods, as President Tinubu has the capacity as has proven thus far to bring into fruition the ‘Renewed Hope’ Manifestoe for Nigeria.
