The House of Representatives Ad Hoc Committee responsible for Investigating the Mass Transit Scheme’s failure in Nigeria has Issued Subpoenas to Several Government Officials, Including the Minister of Finance, Mr. Dele Alake.
Other Individuals Summoned include the Minister of Trade and Investment, the Accountant General for the Federation, and the Head of Service of the Federation.
Chairman of the committee, Rep. Victor Ogene, Announced these Summons in Abuja.
He explained that the Committee sought to Obtain Essential Information about previous Mass Transit Schemes, particularly regarding Disbursements, which it had yet to receive.
Consequently, the Committee scheduled Appearances for the Invited Ministers and Officials on September 11 and 12 at 11 a.m.
In Addition to the Government Officials, the Managing Director of the Infrastructure Bank will also be invited to appear before the Committee on the same days and times.
The Committee further extended Invitations to the National Association of Road Transport Owners and the Road Transport Employers of Nigeria.
Ogene emphasized that the Invitations should not be taken lightly, Cautioning that failure to Honor them would lead to Consequences as determined by the Legislative Authority of the Committee, as enshrined in the Nigerian Constitution.
