Thousands of supporters of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori gathered at the Cenotaph in Asaba, Delta State, on Monday, ahead of his official defection to the All Progressives Congress.

The venue, filled with top national and state political officeholders, alongside party officials, took their seats as Vice President Kashim Shettima was in attendance at the ceremony.

The atmosphere around the Cenotaph was electric, with loyalists chanting slogans such as “We are all BATified and Sherrified” and “Anywhere Sheriff goes, we follow,” as they prepared to move with the governor from the Peoples Democratic Party to the APC.

Local traders also took advantage of the event, recording brisk sales of APC-branded merchandise, including bangles, hats, mufflers, shirts, flags, and stickers along the road leading to the venue.
