Deborah Abiodun, a talented midfielder for Nigeria’s Super Falcons, has made a significant impact in the NCAA Division I women’s soccer tournament with the University of Pittsburgh.
The 21-year-old, in her second year at the university, earned recognition as a top-ranked player for the second consecutive season. She was named to the Second Team All-ACC on Wednesday, helping her team achieve a 9-6-3 overall record and a 3-5-2 mark in conference play.
Abiodun’s impressive performance came after missing six games due to injury. She scored crucial goals, including:

- Her first goal of the season against Clemson on October 3, 2024
- A brace in Pitt’s 3-0 victory over Syracuse ten days later
- Pitt’s only goal against Florida State on October 20
- Four goals in ACC play, leading the Panthers
This marks Abiodun’s second honor, following her Third Team and ACC All-Freshman Team selection in 2023. She was also named PNC Achiever of the Week after scoring a brace against Syracuse.

Abiodun’s achievements are a testament to her skills, which initially caught attention during her time with Rivers Angels Football Club in the Nigerian Women’s Football League. Her performance earned her a full scholarship to the University of Pittsburgh’s women’s soccer team in the United States.
