The National President of the association, Dr. Emeka Orji, announced that work will resume today at 8 a.m. in all federal and state Teaching Hospitals, as well as other hospitals where resident doctors receive training.

Dr. Orji stated, “The strike has been Suspended, and work will resume at 8 a.m. tomorrow (today).

We will review the progress made on June 2, 2023, during our general meeting, where we will decide on the next course of action.”

Earlier, the Doctors, represented by the National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD), had Initiated a five-day Warning Strike in Public Health Facilities across the Country.

Among their demands were the Immediate recruitment of additional Clinical Staff, and the elimination of bureaucratic obstacles to prompt replacement of Doctors and Nurses who leave the System.

Urgent Infrastructure development in public Hospitals with a dedicated allocation of at least 15 percent of the Budget for Healthcare, and a 200 percent increase in the Consolidated Medical Salary Structure (CONMESS) for Doctors, among other Issues.
