South African music stars Tyla and Musa Keys have secured their first RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) platinum and gold certifications in 2024. They are among 67 artists from diverse genres and countries to achieve this milestone.
Tyla’s Achievements
Tyla earned a platinum plaque for her hit single “Water,” which enjoyed significant success in the US. The remix, featuring Travis Scott, spent multiple weeks on the Hot 100 chart, peaking at No. 7. This achievement made Tyla the highest-charting solo female African artist.
Her self-titled debut album received an RIAA gold plaque, while the single “Truth or Dare” off the album also earned a Gold certification. Tyla dominated the 2024 award season, winning Afrobeats categories at the VMAs, BET Awards, and the Billboard Music Award. She also became the first-ever winner of the Grammys’ African Song Performance category.

Musa Keys earned his first RIAA certification in 2024 for his appearance on Davido’s hit single “Unavailable,” which received an RIAA Gold plaque.
