The Performance of the Singer Portable at the ‘Unbarred’ Concert, Organized by the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), has stirred Controversy on Social Media.
The Event took place at the Velodrome of the MKO Abiola Stadium and was hosted by Timi Agbaje.
The Music Policy was Managed by DJ Skillz and Veentage Band, with the promise of a Surprise act.
However, Portable turned out to be the Surprise Guest Performer at the Event.
Social media users, particularly on Twitter (formerly known as Twitter), expressed their Opinions on the Controversial Artist’s Performance at the NBA Concert.
One Twitter user, bearded_lawyah, commented, “I just want to see the genius at the Planning Committee meeting that thought it’d be a good idea to bring Portable to #Unbarred because if they aren’t high on Odogwu Bitters then they must be charged and bail lawyers because this thing no dey make sense no matter how you look am!”
Another user, marcel_great, stated, “As #NigBarAssoc has decided to embarrass the Bar with their choice of Artiste for the unbarred concert, let it be known that we will visit the Issue during the next year’s Election.
What business does the NBA have with Portable? #afamosigwe we will remind you.”
However, Metro Lawyer reported that while some Lawyers walked out of the Event upon seeing Portable, others chose to stay and watch the Singer Perform.
Addressing a purported video showing Lawyers walking out of the Event, an Instagram user with the handle @ndm01 said, “I was here yesterday. This wasn’t about Portable. It was a Breakout Session on the ‘Rule of Law and the Military’… The Army General that anchored the Session denied the ‘ENDSARS’ massacre and it was at that point that Lawyers in attendance staged this walkout.”
The Unbarred Concert is a Live Entertainment Session organized for Lawyers as part of the annual NBA Conference.
It Serves as the Grand closing Party of the Conference and is held one day before the Association’s Annual General Meeting.
