Senator Monday Okpebholo, Edo State’s governor-elect, has named Fred Itua as his incoming administration’s Chief Press Secretary. This appointment, announced on Monday in Abuja by Okpebholo’s media team, marks his first since the upcoming inauguration and handover of power from Governor Godwin Obaseki.
Itua, formerly with Leadership and The Sun newspapers, brings extensive experience covering national and international issues, including the National Assembly, migration, health, anti-corruption, and environmental concerns. He holds degrees from Ambrose Alli University (BA English) and the University of Abuja (MA Media Arts) and is nearing completion of his PhD in Development Communication at Veritas University, Abuja.

As Chief Press Secretary, Itua will lead the governor’s media team, leveraging his expertise and adaptability to drive innovative communication strategies.
