In a bid to ensure a rancor free 10th National Assembly and the smooth take off of the incoming administration of the Tinubu Presidency, a group of non-serving Senators of the second to the fourth Republics have categorically given their unalloyed support to Sen. Godswill Akpabio, as political gladiators jostle for the seat of the President of the Senate of the 10th National Assembly and Chairman of the National Assembly.
The non-serving Senators disclosed their support for Sen. Obot Apabio, Monday, at a press conference in Abuja.

The convener, Senator Basheer Lado, said that, ’’in the spirit of equity, fairness, political expedience and following consultations with stakeholders, it was strategic to totally support the zoning of the position of the President of Senate of the 10th National Assembly to the South-South geo-political zone of the country’’.
Sen. Basheer Lado, further contended that, Sen. Akpabio enjoys the confidence and support of the party leadership and that of his peers.
In the same vein, Lado maintained that the concerned Senators have affirmed their support for Sen. Barau I. Jibrin CON, representing Kano North Senatorial Zone, Kano State as the Deputy President of the 10th Senate.
Interestingly, the group of the Senators of the 2nd-4th Republics appealed to all other aspirants to these key positions to kindly withdraw their bids and support Senators Akpabio and Barau for the offices of President and Deputy President of the 10th Senate of Nigeria’s National Assembly.
The lobbying Senators, stressed that the co-operation from other aspirants will in no small way reduce the acrimony that characterizes the jostle for power, and as this will ensure a peaceful and smooth take off of the incoming administration.

Earlier, the concerned Senators group expressed confidence in the effective, responsible and responsive leadership of duo of the President-elect, H.E.Sen. Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice-President-elect H.E.Sen.Kashim Shettima.
