The Katsina State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, says the command foiled a kidnapping attempt and recovered one AK-47 rifle and one motorcycle on Friday.
This is contained in a statement made available to newsmen on Monday in Katsina.
The Katsina State Command successfully foiled a kidnap attempt, rescued one victim, recovered one locally fabricated AK-47 rifle, and recovered one motorcycle in Faskari LGA, Katsina State.

On May 2nd, 2025, some suspected armed bandits attacked one Abu Iro, a 23-year-old male of Faskari LGA, inflicting a deep machete cut injury on his head in an attempt to kidnap him.

Upon receipt of the report, swiftly, a joint team of police personnel and the Katsina State Community Watch Corps (KSCWC), led by the DPO Faskari, responded to the scene, thwarting the kidnap attempt and successfully rescuing the victim.
During the operation, the security team successfully recovered one locally made AK 47 rifle and a red Boxer motorcycle.
Unfortunately, a member of the KSCWC sustained a gunshot injury to his right leg. He was rushed to the hospital, where he is responding to treatment.
Investigation is ongoing with a view to arresting the suspects. Further developments will be communicated in due course as the investigation proceeds,” the statement said.
