
The Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Wednesday, swore in 37 commissioners and special advisers.
The swearing-in ceremony, which was held at the Adeyemi Bero Auditorium, Alausa, Ikeja, signalled the inauguration of the governor’s cabinet for his second term in office.
The Lagos State House of Assembly, after two screening exercises that saw the rejection of some nominees, had confirmed 38 nominees for the governor’s cabinet, with the last one, Tolani Akibu, being confirmed less than 24 hours before the swearing-in ceremony.
A former General Manager of the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency, Dr Dolapo Fasawe, who was among the confirmed nominees, is missing from the inaugurated cabinet members of the governor as she has been appointed by President Bola Tinubu as Secretary, Health and Human Services Secretariat in Abuja.
Among the inaugurated is the former Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Gbenga Omotoso, who has been returned as the Commissioner for Information and Strategy in Sanwo-Olu’s second term administration.
The commissioners who took their Oath of Office and Oath of Allegiance after their citations were read by officials of the state Ministry of Justice are Lawal Pedro (SAN) – Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice; Prof. Akin Abayomi – Health; Adetokunbo Wahab – Environment; Moruf Akinderu-Fatai – Housing; Gbenga Omotoso – Information and Strategy; Ibrahim Layode – Home Affairs and Culture; Bolaji Dada – Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation; Ruth Olusanya – Agriculture; Abayomi Oluyomi – Finance; and Ayantayo Afolabi – Establishment, Training and Pension.
Others are Adetoke Benson-Awoyinka – Tourism; Ogunlende Mobolaji – Youths and Social Development; Yakub Alebiosu – Waterfront Infrastructure; Mosopefoluwa George – Economic Planning and Budget; Olatunbosun Alake – Innovation, Science and Technology; Bolaji Kayode-Roberts – Local Government; Mr Jamiu Alli-Balogun – Basic Education; and Tolani Akibu – Tertiary Education.
