Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has said that his administration will run an inclusive government of not leaving any segment of the society behind from being touched by the dividend of democracy and good governance.

Sanwo-Olu, who gave the promise, yesterday, during the 2023 Eid-el-Fitri celebration organised by the first family of Lagos State and the Ministry of Home Affairs, said that he and his team would be inclusive in whatever they are doing. He, however, urged Muslims to continue to uphold the tenets and principles of the month of Ramadan.

According to him, the fasting period provided opportunity to seek God’s face and beseech him with request that has made the people come out better and stronger.

The governor, who noted that the Ramadan came after the election, thanked God for making it a peaceful one as well as answering the request and prayers of the state. He commended all those who prayed for the president-elect, Bola Tinubu and his victory, imploring them to continue to pray for him to have the strength and grace to execute and deliver all that he plans for the country.

The governor noted that though the country has its challenges, but God will make things go peacefully in Nigeria. He stated that the rising prosperity of Lagos is on course, pledging that his administration is committed to the safety, security and prosperity of the citizens.

Also speaking at the ceremony, the First Lady of the state, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, said that beyond Ramadan, Muslims are expected to sustain the principles and teachings of the Holy Month, which among others, impose an obligation to be peaceful, truthful, kind, compassionate, and always live harmoniously with people.

She said: “It is important for us to allow these virtues to reflect in our actions, public conduct and inter-personal relations with everyone around us long after the Ramadan. This way, we will improve the cordial relationship that exists among various ethnic groups and adherents of different religions in the state.”

“Let me also seize this opportunity to appreciate Lagosians for the massive support and vote of confidence in re-electing Governor Sanwo-Olu and his deputy, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, to continue in office as governor and deputy governor for another term.

“I know for a fact that the reward for hardwork is more work and the people should expect more work from the governor and his team.”
