A recent Report from the Brand Finance City Index 2023 has Positioned Lagos as the Fifth most desirable African City for people to Live, Work, and Invest in.

The Survey reveals that Lagos holds a Desirability score of 56.7%, placing it behind Cape Town (South Africa), Cairo (Egypt), Johannesburg (South Africa), and Casablanca (Morocco) – the top four African cities with scores of 62.9%, 60.7%, 59.7%, and 59.3%, respectively.

Nairobi, the capital of Kenya, ranks Sixth in the African Chart with a Score of 55.1%, following closely behind Lagos.

Among the 100 best Cities Globally, only Cape Town, Cairo, Johannesburg, Casablanca, Lagos, and Nairobi from Africa secured Positions at 60, 67, 72, 76, 90, and 94, respectively.

Topping the Worldwide ranking, London (England) earns the Title of the World’s Best City brand with a score of 84.6%.

New York (the United States) and Paris (France) secure Second and Third places, garnering scores of 83.0% and 79.7%, respectively.

David Haigh, Chairman and CEO of Brand Finance, explains, “London’s exceptional Performance in the Index can be attributed to its Global Familiarity.

Knowing a City allows the Public to form Positive perceptions about it – to recognize its reputation and to Consider it as the preferred place to Live, work, study, retire, visit, or Invest.”

The Brand Finance City Index 2023 is based on a Global Survey conducted in April 2023, with nearly 15,000 participants from 20 Countries Worldwide sharing their perceptions of the top 100 Cities.

While Zurich (Switzerland) Ranks 17th Globally with a Score of 72.0%, the report highlights it as the World’s Best City for Investment, along with other Factors associated with living and working.

Zurich is described as a highly desirable destination for Local and remote work, Investment, and retirement, securing the top spot in each Dimension.

The report emphasizes, “Zurich is a highly desirable destination to work Locally, work remotely, Invest, and retire, claiming the Top spot for each Dimension.”

However, its overall ranking is I influenced by a lower score in familiarity (53rd), which prevents it from achieving a higher Position on the Brand Finance City Index (17th).
