Edo Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has urged parents and guardians to dissuade their children from joining cult groups, noting that his administration is committed to their well-being.

In a statement released on Tuesday to celebrate the children, the governor, through his Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, said his administration would also provide the children with quality education and create an environment where they can thrive and realise their full potential.

The statement said, “Governor Monday Okpebholo extends warm felicitations to all children in Edo State and across Nigeria on the occasion of Children’s Day. The governor urged parents and guardians to dissuade their children from joining cult groups.

Governor Okpebholo recognises Children’s Day as a significant opportunity to celebrate the boundless potential, innocence, and vibrant spirit of our young ones, who are the true leaders of tomorrow.

Our children are our most precious assets. Their dreams are the blueprints for a brighter future for Edo State. As an administration, we are fully dedicated to investing in their development, protecting their rights, and nurturing their talents.”

The governor also highlighted key initiatives and commitments of his administration aimed at improving the lives of Edo children, including investment in education, protection of children’s rights, and youth development.

He added, “We believe that every child deserves a fair chance at success, irrespective of their background,” Governor Okpebholo stated.

We will continue to work tirelessly to provide them with the necessary tools and support to excel in their academic pursuits, develop their skills, and contribute meaningfully to society.”

The governor urged parents, guardians, teachers, and all stakeholders to continue to play their crucial roles in guiding and mentoring children, instilling in them sound values, and encouraging them to pursue their aspirations.

He called on all Edo children to embrace education, dream big, and strive for excellence, assuring them of his administration’s continuous support in their journey towards a successful future.
