
President Bola Tinubu has Officially Appointed Mr. Ola Olukoyede as the Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for an Initial renewable Term of four years, pending Senate Confirmation.
This Announcement comes nearly four months after the Suspension of the former EFCC chief, Mr. Abdulrasheed Bawa.
In a statement titled ‘President Tinubu Appoints New EFCC Chairman and Secretary of the Commission,’ Issued by the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, the Appointment of Mr. Olukoyede was confirmed following the Resignation of the suspended Executive Chairman, Mr. Abdulrasheed Bawa.
Mr. Olukoyede, an accomplished Lawyer with over 22 years of experience as a Regulatory compliance Consultant and a Specialist in Fraud Management and Corporate Intelligence, boasts extensive familiarity with EFCC Operations.
He previously served as Chief of Staff to the Executive Chairman from 2016 to 2018 and as Secretary to the Commission from 2018 to 2023, fulfilling the Statutory requirement for the Appointment as Chairman of the EFCC.
Additionally, President Tinubu has Appointed Mr. Muhammad Hammajoda as the Secretary of the EFCC for an Initial Renewable Term of five years, subject to Senate Confirmation.
Mr. Hammajoda is a Public Administrator with Substantial expertise in Public Finance Management. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Maiduguri and a Masters in Business Administration from the same university.
His Career encompasses roles as a Lecturer at the Federal Polytechnic, Mubi, and experience in the Banking Sector, Including successful stints at the Defunct Allied Bank and Standard Trust Bank.
The President has Charged the newly Appointed EFCC leadership with the Responsibility to demonstrate their Capability in this Vital National assignment.
