President Bola Tinubu is currently chairing the 20th Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting at the State House in Abuja. The meeting commenced at 1:13 pm today, following Tinubu’s meeting with a South-South delegation.
Notably, this is the council’s first Thursday meeting, deviating from its usual Monday and Wednesday schedule. The meeting follows the postponement of last week’s gathering, initially set for November 6, due to the passing of former Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja.
Vice President Kashim Shettima, Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, and Head of the Civil Service of the Federation Didi Walson-Jack are in attendance. The Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning is expected to present on preparations for the 2025 budget.

Some council members, including Environment Minister Abbas Lawal, are absent, attending the 2024 UN Climate Change Summit in Baku, Azerbaijan.
