The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the dismissal of 19 senior police officers, comprising ten Assistant Superintendents, six Deputy Superintendents, two Chief Superintendents, and one Superintendent. Additionally, the commission demoted 19 other senior police officers, including one Assistant Commissioner of Police, one Chief Superintendent, two Superintendents, two Deputy Superintendents, and 13 Assistant Superintendents.

The PSC’s spokesperson, Ikechukwu Ani, stated that the commission will henceforth consider police disciplinary matters with dispatch, ensuring that officers found culpable serve their punishments while those cleared can continue their career progression. The Chairman of the Commission, DIG Hashimu Argungu (retd.), warned that the commission will not tolerate police officers involving themselves in civil matters, emphasizing that the courts should handle such cases while the police focus on criminal matters and threats to life.
