The Delta Police Command has apprehended three suspected members of a robbery and kidnap syndicate in the state.

The spokesman for the command, Bright Edafe, told newsmen on Monday in Warri that the trio were arrested on Saturday.

Edafe said that the arrest was effected by the command’s operatives of the CP-SAT at Ughelli town and Osubi in Okpe Local Government Area of the state.

He also said that the suspected hoodlums were involved in series of armed robbery and kidnapping in Warri, Ughelli, Agbarho, Sapele and environs.

He added that one of the suspects who was earlier arrested, upon thorough investigation confessed to be a member of a kidnapping and armed robbery syndicate.

“On June 28, the suspect led the police team to Osubi and Ughelli town, where two additional suspects were apprehended.

“One of the suspects was the owner of a PoS machine they used in collecting ransom from victims,” he said.

Edafe said that one locally-made gun with eight rounds of live cartridges were recovered from them.

The police spokesman further said that preliminary investigation revealed that the syndicate was also responsible for the abduction of a pharmacist in Ughelli town on June 19.

“The suspects on April 28, also attempted to kidnap a male victim whose Toyota Corolla car they robbed upon the failed attempt at Iyede community in Isoko North Local Government Area of the state,” the spokesman said.

Edafe added that the suspects were in police custody and investigation on the matter was ongoing.
