The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and other stakeholders are calling for broader consultations on the tax bills currently before the National Assembly. In an interview with our correspondent,PDP Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Ibrahim Abdullahi, emphasized that the government needs to recognize the significant implications of the bills and prioritize the collective interest of citizens.
Abdullahi stated that the government should involve governors in the review process, as they understand the implications of the bills. He also expressed concerns about the haste in passing the bills, citing the severe effects of skyrocketing inflation and harsh economic policies on Nigerians.

Key Concerns:
- Rush in Passing the Bills: Abdullahi questioned the government’s haste in passing the bills, calling for more time for Nigerians to review and evaluate the implications.
- Lack of Consultation: The PDP and other stakeholders are urging the Federal Government to engage in broader consultations with relevant stakeholders.
- Economic Implications: Abdullahi expressed concerns about the severe effects of the bills on Nigerians, who are already struggling with inflation and harsh economic policies.
Osadolor, the Deputy National Youth Leader of the PDP, also acknowledged that the concept of tax reform is positive but urged the Federal Government not to rush the process.
