A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), led by Bauchi Governor Bala Mohammed, has sought a court order to prevent the party and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from canceling Thursday’s planned National Executive Council (NEC) meeting.
The lawsuit, filed by Imam Auwal at the Zamfara High Court in Gusau Judicial Division, also appealed to set aside an earlier injunction from the Abuja Federal High Court that barred the PDP from removing its acting National Chairman, Umar Damagum.

It’s unclear how the opposing faction, loyal to Federal Capital Territory Governor Nyesom Wike, will respond to this development. This latest move is part of the ongoing power struggle within the PDP, which has been plagued by internal conflicts and court battles ¹. The party has been trying to reconcile its warring leaders ahead of its national convention, with efforts led by a peace committee headed by former Senate President David Mark ¹.
