
As of the weekend, 330,713 Nigerians had Applied for the Federal Government’s Three Million Technical Talent (3MTT) Program.
The Initiative, which is being Championed by the Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, under the leadership of Bosun Tijani, has 30,000 slots in the first phase.
The Program is part of the Renewed Hope agenda of President Bola Tinubu’s Administration and is aimed at building the Backbone of Nigeria’s Technical talent to power its Digital Economy and position the Nation as a net talent Exporter.
It will be recalled that on May 29, Tinubu, during his Inauguration, announced a plan to raise one million Digital Jobs for Nigerians, especially Youths in the Country.
Consequently, in a Blueprint on how the Ministry would run in the next four years, Tijani disclosed a move to raise three million Tech Talents.
According to the plan, phase one would target 30,000 Trainees.
The Minister noted that as of October 19, 330,713 Nigerians had applied for the positions, which opened on October 13, 2023.
Tijani said: “In line with the Ministry’s one percent -10 percent -100 percent Implementation approach, this first phase will aim to Train and Place 30,000 Technical talents, representing one percent of our overall Target.
It will be executed based on the Framework created with key Stakeholders across Government Agencies, training Providers, Educational Institutions, development agencies, and the Private Sector.”
Also, Lagos and Kano have been listed as the top two States from which the highest number of Beneficiaries would be selected.
While 2,040 will be picked from Lagos, 1,628 Trainees will come from Kano State.
