The Petroleum Products Retail Outlets Owners Association of Nigeria (PETROAN) has clarified its stance on Dangote Refinery, stating that they are not opposed to purchasing refined Premium Motor Spirit from the facility.
PETROAN President Billy Gillis-Harry emphasized that oil marketers would buy products from the refinery if market conditions were properly negotiated and agreed upon. He announced plans to meet with Dangote Refinery this week to establish a cooperative working relationship.
Key Points:
- PETROAN supports Dangote Refinery and is willing to purchase refined products.
- Fair pricing and negotiated market conditions are essential.
- Meeting scheduled with Dangote Refinery to solidify discussions.
- PETROAN seeks transparent business dealings through established procedures with NNPCL.
Gillis-Harry clarified that PETROAN’s previous concerns were misinterpreted, stating, “We love the fact that Dangote has made this sacrifice in Nigeria… However, after the pride, we need to get into business.”

Dangote Refinery recently disclosed its petrol pricing: N990 per litre for trucks and N960 per litre for ships, aligning with international market rates. The refinery’s statement responded to claims from PETROAN and the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria that they could secure petrol at lower prices.
The clarification aims to foster a collaborative relationship between oil marketers and Dangote Refinery, ensuring fair pricing and a seamless supply chain.
