Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has fortified places of worship, critical installations and deployed human and material resources across the nooks and crannies of the nation’s capital to ensure the safety of residents during the Easter celebration.

The spokesperson for the command, Idoko Samuel, revealed in a statement yesterday that the commandant, Mr. Olusola Odumosu, ordered the deployment of 5,230 personnel.

Odumosu, who addressed principal officers in Abuja, said due to the intelligence report received of a possible attack this season in the FCT, the command has deployed covert personnel for surveillance and intelligence gathering to foil such planned attack.

The command, according to him, had also deployed all special squads such as the Armed Squad, Female Strike Force, Counter Terrorism Unit, Special Crack Squad (Operation Adaka-su) and Agro Rangers to ensure the maintenance of law and order.

He said consequent upon the above, “we wish to assure residents of the territory of the command’s unwavering commitment to ensuring that they have a safe and peaceful environment during the Easter celebration period and beyond.”
