The Joint Action Committee (JAC) of the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions and the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities will meet with the Federal Government today at 11 a.m. to discuss the ongoing strike.
SSANU Vice-President Abdussobur Salaam confirmed receiving an official invitation from the government on Wednesday night. The meeting, presided over by the Minister of State for Education, aims to address the unions’ demands.
The strike, which began on Monday, protests four months of unpaid salaries, affecting university activities nationwide. SSANU National President Mohammed Ibrahim stated that top university officials, including Vice-Chancellors, bursars, and registrars, are also unpaid.

The unions demand payment of withheld salaries, improved remuneration, earned allowances, and implementation of the 2009 agreements. With 98% compliance, Ibrahim emphasized that members won’t return to work until demands are met.
