The Enugu State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has faulted a claim by billionaire businessman, Arthur Eze, that President Bola Tinubu has endorsed Governor Peter Mbah for a second term.
APC said Eze made the claim during an event marking Mbah’s second year in office, saying Tinubu has backed the governor for re-election due to his “character and honesty”.
Tinubu has already endorsed him for a second term because he has character. He is very honest. Nobody will stop him,” Eze had told the gathering.

Reacting on Saturday, the APC in Enugu described Eze’s statement as “misleading and self-serving,” warning the public to disregard it.
In a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Titus Ezeagu, the party said Eze was not in any position to speak for the President, noting that he neither belonged to the APC nor worked for Tinubu during the 2023 election.
In fact, Arthur Eze openly opposed President Tinubu’s candidacy during the 2023 election and supported another candidate. He has no mandate to speak on behalf of the President,” the party said.
It added that the President had not endorsed any governor for re-election in any state, including Mbah, describing Eze’s comment as an attempt to exploit Tinubu’s name for political gain.
The party also accused Eze of making similar claims in other states, including Anambra, where the President later clarified his support for APC’s governorship candidate, Nicholas Ukachukwu.
The APC described Eze’s comments as “propaganda” aimed at boosting the image of a governor it described as leading an “anti-people” administration in Enugu.
The party also took a swipe at Mbah and the PDP, accusing both of attempting to use presidential endorsement to deflect from internal crises, including the lingering leadership tussle involving the party’s national secretary position.
