The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has implemented a ban on the use of ‘Ghana Must Go’ sacks by passengers traveling through the country’s airports.
This decision, primarily targeting passengers utilizing international airports, aims to address the detrimental effects these bags have caused to airport infrastructure and airline operations.
In a circular titled ‘Re: Prohibition of Usage Of Ghana Must Go’, FAAN’s Manager of Airport Services, Henok Gizachew, emphasized the significant financial losses and damage to airport conveyor belt systems incurred due to the usage of these sacks.

To accommodate passengers who prefer using ‘Ghana Must Go’ bags, FAAN has mandated that these bags be well-packaged within cartons or hardcovers of rectangular shape.
The pervasive use of ‘Ghana Must Go’ bags has been linked to numerous conveyor belt breakdowns at Nigerian airports, imposing substantial repair costs on the airport authority. By enforcing this ban, FAAN seeks to mitigate these disruptions and safeguard the integrity of airport infrastructure.
