NigeriaDecides2023: Tinubu In Early Lead in Niger

Results from 10 out of the 25 Local Government Areas in Niger state indicates that the All Progressive Congress (APC) Presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is leading, followed by the PDP and Labour Party (LP) respectively.

Also, the eldest son to the former Minister of Information and National Orientation, Professor Jerry Gana, Joshua Audu Gana of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has defeated the incumbent member, Abdullahi Usman-Gbatamayigi of the APC to clinch the House of Representative seat for Lavun, Mokwa and Edati Federal Constituency.

Audu Gana, a first timer in politics polled a total of, 47, 942 to defeat the incumbent APC member who came second in the contest with 40, 003 votes.

The Returning Officer for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Yahaya Tayo-Iyanda, who declared the result said the PDP candidate polled a total of, 47, 942 to defeat the incumbent APC member who got 40, 003 votes.

“I satisfy that I am the Returning Officer for the 2023 House of Representatives election for Lavun, Edati and Mokwa Federal Constituency held on Saturday February 25th, 2023, I declare that Joshua Audu-Gana of the PDP having satisfied the requirements of the law is hereby declared winner and is return elected”.

Also, incumbent Governor Abubarkar Sani Bello of Niger state have been declared winner in the Senatorial contest for the zone C (Niger-North). He scored, 100 197 to beat his closest rival, Shehu Muhammad Abdullahi of the PDP who got 88, 153 and Alhaji Ibrahim Wali of the NNPP who came third with 13, 866 votes
