Three brave NDLEA officers sustained injuries while successfully preventing tons of illegal drugs from reaching communities ahead of the holiday season.
In a daring operation, the officers confronted armed hoodlums guarding warehouses filled with processed psychoactive substances in Edo State.
Despite facing a fierce gunfight, the NDLEA team bravely secured the area, seizing an estimated 6,000 kilograms of cannabis. This operation follows the destruction of similar warehouses in the Ujiogba forest just days prior.
Four individuals – Omoruan Theophilus, Aigberuan Jacob, Ekeinde Zaza, and Naomi Ohiewere – were apprehended in connection with the illegal activities.
Sadly, the officers’ bravery came at a cost. Three sustained injuries during the encounter, with one officer shot in the head. Thankfully, all injured officers are receiving medical attention, and the critically injured officer underwent successful surgery.

NDLEA Chairman, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (retd), praised the officers’ professionalism and unwavering commitment to their duty. He affirmed that such attacks will not deter the agency’s fight against drug trafficking and its harmful impacts on society.
This incident serves as a reminder of the courage and dedication of our law enforcement agencies who risk their lives to protect our communities. We commend the NDLEA for their tireless efforts and wish a speedy recovery to the injured officers.
Let us all stand together to support those who fight against crime and strive for a safer and healthier future.
