The Lagos State Government has commenced the distribution of palliative measures to vulnerable residents, in fulfillment of the promise made by Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu to cushion the effects of hardship caused by fuel scarcity and non-disbursement of currency by banks.
At the launch and distribution exercise held at Adeyemi-Bero Auditorium, Alausa Secretariat, Ikeja, the Governor’s representative, Deputy Governor Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, stated that the distribution will be an ongoing exercise, and the government will be reaching out to religious centers, NGOs, and other distribution channels across the state.

The targeted beneficiaries of the palliatives include the vulnerable and civil servants, among others. The aim is to alleviate hunger caused by the currency redesign by the Central Bank of Nigeria and other crises associated with fuel scarcity.
The Governor explained that the measures became necessary to improve the living conditions of the vulnerable residents of the State, and the distributed boxes contain different food items for their consumption.

The Commissioner for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA), Mrs. Cecelia Dada, stressed that the present administration is mindful of the welfare of its people and that the challenges faced by citizens are due to the naira swap and difficulties being experienced in accessing their money at the banks.
