President Charges Mills Stakeholders to Ensure Efficient Operations and Maintenance Culture
President Muhammadu Buhari has urged stakeholders of the Mills to prioritize efficient operations, Good Customer Service and Maintenance Culture to enhance productivity and reduce Food Importation.
Speaking at the Event, the President emphasized the need for the Mills to play a pivotal role in diversifying Nigeria’s Economy and reducing its dependence on Oil.
During the Event, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr. Mohammed Abubakar, commended President Buhari as the Champion of Nigeria’s Agriculture. He stated that the previous Administrations had made Promises to diversify the economy but failed to deliver, whereas President Buhari has Successfully achieved this Goal.
Abubakar highlighted the significant contribution of the Agricultural Sector to Nigeria’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP), with Agriculture consistently ranking as the top Sector year after year.
He emphasized that Nigeria’s Agricultural Transformation has been a resounding Success.
Furthermore, the Minister stressed that Nigeria, being the largest Rice Producer in Africa and the fourth largest in the World, does not need to Import Rice from Countries like Thailand.
He pointed out the Impressive Capacity of the Rice Value chain within the Country and urged Nigerians to support Locally produced Rice.
Abubakar highlighted the World-Class Machinery and the High-quality final Product observed at the Rice Mill, affirming that Nigeria possesses the Resources and expertise to meet its Rice demands and reduce the Expenditure on Rice Imports.
In conclusion, the Minister emphasized the importance of Self-sufficiency and the need to conserve Foreign Exchange by harnessing Nigeria’s Agricultural potential. He Celebrated the remarkable achievements in Rice production and affirmed that Nigeria can feed its Population without relying on Imports.
The Rice Mill showcased during the Event has a Capacity of four tonnes per hour, further underscoring Nigeria’s potential to become a leading player in the Global Rice market.
