The Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development has approved the Kogi State Government’s bid to build an international airport in Zariagi ¹ ². This milestone was announced by Kingsley Fanwo, the State Commissioner for Information and Communications, in a press release on Friday.
Key Highlights of the Project
- Strategic Location: Zariagi’s existing airstrip and central location make it an ideal hub for aviation services, serving 10 neighboring states and reducing traffic on the Lokoja-Abuja road.
- Economic Boost: The airport will create jobs, enhance the state’s economy, and showcase its potential on the global stage.

- Cargo Capacity: The airport will have dedicated cargo facilities, aligning with the state’s key objectives.
- Timely Completion: Governor Usman Ododo’s administration prioritizes the project’s timely completion, adhering to regulatory standards.
Fanwo expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Aviation Minister for the historic approval. He assured the people of Kogi State that the administration would continue executing laudable projects, building on the gains of the past eight years.
