In a Dramatic turn of events, nine out of 10 Councilors in Kaura Local Council of Kaduna State have ousted the Council Chairman, Mr. Mathias Siman, from Office on grounds of Alleged gross Misconduct.
The removal was Executed through an Impeachment process following a Motion moved by Zachariah Achi (Bandon ward) and seconded by Fidelis Kukwui (Zankang ward), citing misappropriation and negligence.
Achi accused Siman of Impropriety, highlighting the award of Contracts to his Company, SMK Nigeria Limited, in violation of the Local Government Administration Law of 2018 and the Kaduna State Public Procurement Law of 2016.
He emphasized that the Awarded Contracts, totaling N153 million, lacked tangible outcomes, with some Executed below the standard and others excessively Inflated.
The Speaker of the Legislative Council, Stephen Atuk, declared, “Mr. Siman Mathias stands Impeached as of Tuesday 31st October 2023,” asserting that the Decision was made in the best interest of the Local Government and its future generations.
Siman, in response, refuted the allegations, stating that he was not allowed to defend himself.
Despite his denial, he expressed acceptance of the decision and conveyed his Intention to move forward without pursuing Legal action.
