The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) on Friday declared a nationwide strike over the recent hike in fuel price as well as the scarcity of the product.
The strike which is expected to commence Wednesday May 7, 2023
According to the NLC, the move became necessary following the fuel scarcity across the Country occasioned by President Bola Tinubu’s Innaugural speech in which he declared that “fuel subsidy is gone”.
This was disclosed by the NLC President Joe Anaerobes after an emergency meeting of the union’s National Executive Council (NEC) in Abuja.
Ajaero noted that the Government, particularly the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited had up until Wednesday next week to revert to the old price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) also known as petrol.
He further insisted that failure of the Federal Government to meet the ultimatum would attract an indefinite protest Nationwide.
