Lagos, Nigeria — Jennifer Serrano, a dynamic force across multiple industries, is not only a publicist, business development strategist, and lawyer but also a celebrated fashion designer, singer, and media personality. Her multifaceted career speaks volumes of her passion for advocacy, innovation, and community development.
As the founder of The Unity Project Nigeria, an NGO dedicated to ending religious and ethnic polarization while promoting cultural integration, Serrano has worked tirelessly since 2018 to unite Nigeria’s diverse communities. “Unity is not just a dream; it is a necessity for a peaceful and prosperous Nigeria,” she says with conviction. Her work has spanned all 36 states, where she fosters dialogue between ethnic and religious groups.
In addition to her NGO work, Serrano leads the Independent Youths of Nigeria (IYN) as the National Coordinator. IYN focuses on empowering young Nigerians by instilling leadership and responsibility in the next generation. “Young people are the heartbeat of this nation. If we can inspire them to act responsibly, there’s no limit to what Nigeria can achieve,” she tells Kukuruku Radio.

A Journey of Climate Action and Media Excellence
Beyond advocacy and leadership, Jennifer Serrano is at the forefront of the fight against climate change. She is the CEO of BeautifulZionian Services Limited, a green energy and climate action company committed to sustainability in Nigeria. “Climate change is here, and it’s affecting us all. We need to act now, not just with words but with action,” she urges.
Her media career, spanning over 21 years, began in 2003 when she made history as the first female presenter on BenTV London. From there, she graced the screens of African TV in Switzerland and other international platforms before eventually returning to Nigeria, where she continues to inspire through her voice and vision.

Interview with Jennifer Serrano
Kukuruku Radio: With such a diverse portfolio, how do you manage to excel in all these fields—law, business, fashion, and media?
Serrano: (Laughs) I think it’s passion that keeps me going. I don’t see these as separate careers. They are just different ways for me to express myself, make a difference, and connect with people. My work in media, for example, aligns perfectly with my advocacy because it gives me a platform to speak about the issues that matter.
Kukuruku Radio: What inspired you to establish The Unity Project Nigeria?
Serrano: I saw how divisive rhetoric—whether religious or ethnic—was tearing us apart as a people. Nigeria is blessed with diversity, but instead of celebrating it, we often let it divide us. The Unity Project was born out of the desire to change that narrative. We aim to build bridges, foster understanding, and show that unity is possible.
Kukuruku Radio: How has your Brazilian-Yoruba heritage influenced your worldview?
Serrano: It’s shaped me in profound ways. Lagos is home, but growing up with a multicultural heritage taught me that no culture or identity is superior to another. We are all part of something bigger. That’s the spirit I try to bring into everything I do—whether through The Unity Project, my business, or the Independent Youths of Nigeria.
Kukuruku Radio: You’ve been a climate advocate for years. How urgent is the fight against climate change?
Serrano: The fight is incredibly urgent. Climate change is no longer a distant threat; it’s a present reality. We see it in rising temperatures, floods, and droughts across Nigeria. That’s why I founded BeautifulZionian Services—to promote sustainable solutions that can mitigate these effects. Everyone has a role to play in this fight.
Kukuruku Radio: How do you balance your professional responsibilities with being a mother, life coach, and motivational speaker?
Serrano: It’s not always easy, but I believe in living a well-rounded life. I prioritize my family, but I also draw strength from the people I coach and motivate. Seeing others thrive gives me the energy to keep going. It’s all interconnected—family, work, and service to others.

Impact and Future Plans
Jennifer Serrano continues to hold conferences and motivational sessions in Nigeria and abroad, inspiring countless individuals with her insights on leadership, entrepreneurship, and personal growth. Her influence stretches beyond advocacy as she mentors young professionals, helping them navigate careers and life challenges.
With her eyes set on the future, Serrano hopes to expand The Unity Project Nigeria to other African countries, bringing her message of peace and unity to the wider continent.
“Peace is not just the absence of conflict. It’s the presence of understanding, respect, and shared purpose,” she emphasizes.
Jennifer Serrano’s journey is one of resilience, vision, and dedication—a living example that change is possible when passion meets purpose.
