Members of the International Press Institute Nigeria Chapter at a dinner yesterday, came together to honor Former Commissioner for Information Kwara state and Editor-in-chief of the Herald Newspapers, Raheem Adedoyin Oloriewe.
The dinner which took place at the Ladi Kwali hall, Abuja Continental Hotel had in attendance, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris. Special Adviser to the president on Information and Strategy, Bayo Ononuga. Former MD of Nigerian Tribune, Folu Olamiti. Also present were, the head of Postgraduate studies,Baze University, CEO Daily Trust newspapers amongst other dignitaries.

The Honourable Minister expressed his satisfaction,describing Adedoyin’s Re-election as a well deserved honour for his exceptional dedication to ethical journalism over the years.
Raheem Adedoyin appreciated the honour and encouraged the younger ones to stick to the principles of journalism.
“I have always said it is good to celebrate ourselves and I am happy that they are doing that for me. I am very happy to be celebrated today, the celebration is not only for me it’s a celebration for the entire media. It’s a remarkable way of showing reward for dedication, discipline, focus and tenacity.

I urged everyone to remain tenacious and dedicated in whatever professions they belong to. I have spent over four decades in journalism and I am happy that am getting rewarded for it.
I encourage the younger ones to stick to the principles of journalism and embrace all that journalism teaches us to keep up the good“
Raheem Adedoyin will represent Nigeria and Africa on the IPI board, which is headquartered in Vienna, Austria. He was re-elected to a three-year term on Wednesday at the World Congress and General Assembly of the IPI in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina.

His re-election to the IPI Global Board underscores his unwavering commitment towards press freedom in Nigeria, Africa and the world.
