The Chairman of the Independent Electoral Commission, (INEC) Mahmood Yakubu has met with the Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECS) at the commission’s headquarters in Abuja, the nations capital.
The meeting which held on Tuesday, is the first since the 2023 General Elections were concluded.
Yakubu said the meeting is to review the February general elections and also discuss preparations for the off season governorship Elections in Kogi and Imo in November this year.
The INEC chairman also commended some of the well behaved RECs for their efforts in the 2023 general elections, but criticized their colleagues who had underperformed, adding that they would be dealt with according to the laws of the commission.

Newsmen had earlier reported that the electoral body said it will hold a postelection review for the just concluded 2023 polls from July 4 to August 5.
According to reports, the commission has been holding these election review meetings after every general election since 2011.
The electoral umpire also disclosed that the review will focus on all aspects of the electoral activities before, during and after the elections.
