The Imo Police spokesperson, Henry Okoye, said this in a statement on Thursday, while he also confirmed the deployment of some Commissioners of Police to the state for the election.
“The Nigeria Police Force has deployed 15 Commissioners of Police, 29 Deputy Commissioners of Police, and 40 Assistant Commissioners of Police to oversee Saturday’s governorship election in Imo State,” Okoye said.
Okoye also said that the police officers are ready for the November 11 poll and will maintain the highest sense of neutrality in the election.
The 40 ACP’s will man each division in Imo, while the current divisional officers will not be in charge of their divisions.
Okoye further warned that the NPF is going to deal ruthlessly with any criminally-minded individual or group of individuals who want to disrupt the election in Imo State.
Meanwhile, the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, in his continued commitment to ensuring a peaceful and secure electoral process during the November 11 off-cycle gubernatorial elections in Bayelsa, Imo, and Kogi States, convened a crucial meeting with key stakeholders in Kogi on Wednesday, where he warned them against violence.
