The Imo State Government has denied the Allegation by the LP national secretary, Umar Farouk, that the State Government was behind the invasion of it premises by the security agent.
Farouk, on Monday had alleged that the Imo governor was trying to hijack the party in the state after the Secretariat invasion.
Reacting to the accusation, State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Declan Emelumba, on Tuesday says that the invasion was as a result of infighting among its various factions in the state.
Emelumba further noted that a faction secured a court order against the institution of a caretaker committee by another faction, necessitating the pasting of the order at the state secretariat of LP.
According to him, “a faction secured a court order against the institution of a caretaker committee by another faction, thus necessitating the pasting of the order at the state secretariat of LP.
“The LP in the State has been in Leadership crisis even before the election so it mischievous and satanic for the national secretary to accuse Uzodimma of trying to hijack the party.
He said “The presence of security agencies at the premises was to enforce the pasting of the the court order at the LP secretariat as directed by the court.
“The Governor has no need to be interested in the internal crisis of LP as he is busy attending to the affairs of the state.
He disclosed that the crisis in LP has festered for a long time, resulting in the state chapter arranging two different venues when the presidential candidate, Peter Obi, visited the state for campaigns.
