The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has appointed Adebola Ayinde Hamzat as the new Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) for Zone 16 Command, headquartered in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
Adebola Ayinde Hamzat, a native of Ifelodun LGA, Kwara State, joined the Nigeria Police Force as a cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police in 1992. He holds a degree in Sociology from the University of Ilorin, a Master’s in Conflict Management and Peace Studies from Unijos, and a PhD in Peace and Development Studies from Unilorin.

Hamzat, a seasoned officer with extensive experience, has served in various capacities, including:
- Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Police Command
- Commissioner of Police, Border Patrol Force
- AIG in charge of the Counter Terrorism Unit
- UN Missions in Kosovo and Timor Leste
The police urge residents of Bayelsa and Rivers states to cooperate with and support Hamzat in his new role.
