
The Chairman of the House Committee on Science and Technology, Rep. Dachung Musa Bagos, affirmed this commitment during the Committee’s Inaugural meeting in Abuja on Thursday.
Bagos emphasized that the Committee’s primary focus would be to evaluate the specific requirements for Intervention and the appropriate utilization of Financial aid from International Partners and donor Organizations in the science, technology, and Innovation Sector.
“We are dedicated to ensuring that Grants are optimally utilized for the advancement of the Sector,” he added.
He also outlined the Committee’s agenda, which includes engaging with relevant Stakeholders and conducting oversight visits to ensure adherence to the 2023 Appropriation Act.
The committee is set to formulate Policies, programs, and Budgets aimed at strengthening the Science and Technology Sector, he further stated.
In addition, the committee plans to arrange study Tours and retreats to harness the potential for Economic diversification and National development.
While encouraging Youth participation in the field, Bagos cautioned against Brain drain and promised visits to Educational Institutions to encourage Innovation and Identify areas that require Legislative Intervention.
